About

Who is Chris Trotta?

It’s not just what I do. This is who I am. As a child, I spent countless hours camping, fishing and exploring the same woods along the Kisco River that my father and his siblings did in the 1940s. Somewhere between the precariously built treehouses, makeshift rafts and homemade go-carts, I realized that designing and building is what I am meant to do.
In high school, I worked for my father and uncles doing everything from digging holes to roofing but was happiest working with the carpenters. So, I decided to study construction technology at SUNY Delhi and also worked as an instructor at a small ski resort in the Catskills. It is then that I l fell in love with life in the mountains. After Delhi, I spent a few years working on Long Island and NYC before returning to Westchester to found Trotta Contracting & Custom Cabinetry with my father.
In 1999, I bought a condemned building and rehabilitated it to become the permanent home of Trotta Custom. When I am not working, I can be found skiing and fishing up in the Adirondacks, and so it is there that I began to source live edge lumber. I also sell my handcrafted furniture and accent pieces in the Lake George area, bringing the beauty of the woods into homes throughout that region.
Please give me a call or stop by the shop to see what I can do for you. Perhaps you are looking for a custom chef’s kitchen. Or maybe you are searching for the perfect gnarly spalted live edge table with worm holes to enhance your home in Lake Placid, the source of the raw materials. Whatever it is, if it’s made from wood, I can make it a reality.
